Client Commission – Logo Design
This project showcased my ability to create highly stylized, genre-specific branding through illustration and custom typography. Working directly with the band also gave me valuable experience in interpreting client vision into visual form, especially in a niche, style-driven context like metal branding.
Devout Fear is an emerging metal band that approached me to create a custom logo. The band wanted a visual identity that aligned with the extreme metal genre while remaining unique and legible enough to be recognizable across merchandise and digital platforms.
The goal was to design a logo that felt aggressive and organic, with jagged, thorn-like linework and an almost corpse-rooted visual structure typical of black and death metal logos. I chose to hand-draw the logo to give it an authentic, gritty texture and chaotic form that digital-only tools often flatten.
The band members also enjoyed another illustration of mine depicting a skull and requested that it be included in the brand package.
