Why I Chose Graphic Design
Before I ever touched a design program, I was an illustrator. Art has always been how I make sense of the world and how I connect with others. What eventually drew me to graphic design wasn’t just a love for creating, but a desire to create with purpose.
I chose design because I want to help people. Whether it’s building a visual identity for someone’s small business, shaping how a brand tells its story, or making information easier to understand through thoughtful layout, I see design as a tool for connection. I don’t just want to make things that look nice; I want to make things that matter.
While my own personal aesthetic leans towards dark and bold, at the core of my work is clarity, flexibility, and empathy. I take time to listen, collaborate honestly, and create work that feels true to the people it’s for.
Design is how I help. If you’ve got a story, an idea, or a vision, I’d love to bring it to life with you.
Why Mouse Bat?
The name Mouse Bat was inspired by the mouse-eared bat, a creature often overlooked but full of fascinating qualities that reflect who I am as a designer. Known for their long ears and incredible lifespan, these bats embody two things I value deeply: listening and dedication.
Their long ears symbolize my ability to truly hear my clients. I believe too often people are not given the space to be heard, for their goals to be understood, their challenges seen, and their story told. I don’t just design to impress; I design to communicate. Like this species of bat, I work quietly but with intention, navigating each project with precision and care.
Mouse-eared bats are also surprisingly long-lived for their size, with some species living 30 years or more.
To me, that longevity speaks to dedication, endurance, and thoughtful creation. Qualities I bring into every project I take on.
Mouse Bat, as a name, is my way of honoring my own journey as well as your journey, one I am excited to get to know.
